Make it easier for Google to index your web pages more quickly
Some of the readers of this post might be already receiving a decent number of visitors to their blogs but the rest are still struggling to add a zero after the average number of their daily visitors. I have written some posts on search engine optimization and you also must be knowing that Google is the most major source of traffic generation for any website or blog. But how can Google place your website’s link in front of a user unless and until it itself knows about your website and the pages inside it??
This is a one time off-page optimization method which I am going to share with you.
The biggest mistake that I made during the initial phase of my blogging period was that I did not create a Sitemap for my website. And the result was very obvious that it took a much longer time for my web pages to be indexed in Google. I don’t want you to commit the same mistake with your blog because learning from other’s mistake is much-much better than to learn from your own mistake.
But before moving forward, you should know why sitemap is important for a website. Sometimes, search engines can not crawl the content deep inside your website. Sitemap provides perfect location of every single post and page of your website to the search engines.
There are two types of sitemaps. One is xml sitemap and the other is html sitemap. Xml is used by search engines for better crawling of your website and html sitemap is for your visitors.
You can search for online sitemap generators which will for your website. You can directly visit one here sitemap-generator .
- Enter your blog’s or website’s domain.
- change the frequency accordingly.
- select server’s response in last modification.
- click on start button.
- download xml and html sitemaps.
Upload these files on the root of your domain. Visit http://yoursite.com/sitemap.xml and http://yoursite.com/sitemap.html and make sure that you have uploaded these files correctly.
After uploading these sitemaps correctly, you have to create an account on Google Webmaster Tools or login if you already have one.
Firstly you have to add and verify your site. Once you are done with the verification, You can click on sitemap under optimization tab and add sitemaps there by providing the url ie http://xyz.com/sitemap.xml. Same you can do with html sitemap.
So it was all about generating, uploading and adding a sitemap for your website. Please let me know if this post helped you..
