Add some revenue to your adsense account using Google custom search
Are you still using the same old default search box for your blog? Why don’t you try out Google custom search box for some time and then get back to me and tell, did your adsense revenue lifted up or not. I can bet you, you will say yes.
Google provides a custom search box for your blog to generate a few more bugs. Till now, you are getting paid only for the clicks on ads that you place along with your content on your blog. But when you start using Google custom search box and someone performs a search for any post or article on your blog, Google automatically generates some links from other websites along with the search results of your own blog. If someone opens any link other than your blog’s post’s link, you get paid for that too.
You can have a look for the same in this screenshot.
I have told you the mechanism of how we can get paid a little more from adsense using Google custom search box.
But now, you need to know the steps to add google custom search box to your blog.
The very first step is to log in into your Google adsense account. If you are still facing problems in the approval of your Google adsense account, you need to read my last post for making the things go right.
But for now, let us continue with our steps. As soon as you log in, you will see ‘My ads’ tab just next to ‘Home’ tab. Click on My ads.
You will get 4 major options on left side. Click on the ‘Search’ option.
Then select ‘New custom Search engine’.
You will get to see a form kind of page asking you to fill out some boxes.
Fill out the name of the custom search engine. Ex.- ‘just4r search’
Then choose ‘only sites I select’ in ‘what to search’ and enter the url of your blog.
Set other preferences according to your blog like keywords, language and country.
Now you have to choose a Search box style. I prefer to keep it default that is the first one but you can choose any other as well according to your blog’s appearance.
You can change the number of characters in text box length according to the position where you will place the search box. I changed it to 30 for my blog.
You can also change the ad style if you want. I prefer to keep it default.
Check ‘on my website using an iframe’ for search results display. Now, open your wordpress admin on a side tab and create a new page with title ‘Search’ So that the url of this page will be http://yourdomain.com/search.
Now copy that url and paste it into the box asking for a url to display the search results.
Select the width of the result page accordingly and finally click on save and get code.
You need to copy the 2nd code and paste it into the html of the newly created page ie the Search page.
Then go to widgets under appearance button in your wordpress admin and create a text widget and place the 1st code into it.
Now you can place this text widget where you want to show the Google custom search box.
So, we are finally done with the steps for adding Google custom search box on your blog. Now just wait for some time and notice a guaranteed lift in your adsense earnings.
And do not forget to share this post and let me know if I could help you through this post.
